Reflexology is a complementary therapy that uses touch to help promote well-being and relaxation. By reducing stress in peoples’ lives it allows the body to build resilience and improve good health. Here at Western House Consulting Rooms in Barnsley we are able to offer an individual and holistic approach to clients receiving reflexology in private and confidential treatment rooms.
Reflexology dates back to Ancient Egyptain times but was not introduced to the Western part of the world until the early 1900s. The theory behind reflexology is based on that different points on the feet, lower limbs, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body. Reflexologists apply a touch therapy to work these points with their fingers aiming to bring those areas back to balance, therefore, allowing the body to work as well as it can.
Reflexology is an individual and holistic treatment which takes the whole person into account - this includes both the physical and the psychological factors which may be affecting your lifestyle and overall health. Ultimately this helps the body to restore it’s balance.
Some of the benefits of receiving reflexology at Western House may include:
- reduced stress and tension
- promoting better sleep patterns
- relaxation
- lifitng your mood
- an improved sense of wellbeing
- individual benefits depending on the person
Who is reflexology suitable for?
Reflexology is non-invasive and can work alongside other therapies. It is suitable for anyone at any age although it does not replace medical advice. Your reflexologist will perform an initial assessment at your first appointment to confirm your suitability prior to receiving a treatment.
What happens during a treatment?
At Western House Consulting Rooms in Barnsley a confidential assessment will be taken prior to your reflexology, including any medical history. Your treatment wil take place in a comfortable and private clinic room. You will only be required to remove your shoes and socks depending on the area you are receiving your reflexology. The therapist will apply pressure using their hands to your chosen area (feet, lower legs, hands, ear or face) for a relaxing experience.
Your reflexologist may recommend a course of treatment which is tailored on an individual basis and provide you with any aftercare and advice.
Our reflexologist at Western House is also a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist. For any further information or to book an appointment for reflexology with Vicky Mann please contact us on (01226) 730249.
